Election Positions

Conducting an election is a major public event. During State and Local Government elections some 5 million NSW electors vote at 2,500 polling places. Elections are large scale logistical exercises conducted in a high profile, legal and time-dependent environment.

You must be an enrolled elector to be offered employment in a polling place or at a Returning Officer's office.

On Election Day

People employed on election day may be required to assist with the setup of the polling place, issue ordinary and absent ballot papers, assist electors, sort and count ballot papers and decommission the polling place.

Position Descriptions

The NSWEC offers competitive rates of pay that are regularly reviewed.

Before or After Election Day

People employed before or after election day may be required to provide administrative, clerical and computer support to the Returning Officer.
