New policies and procedures available

New and amended policies and procedures have recently been published on the NSW Electoral Commission (NSWEC) website.

These documents guide the work of the NSWEC in administering public funding and regulating campaign finance.

The Public Funding Policy sets out the overarching principles and aims of the 3 public funding schemes administered by the NSWEC. The Administration Fund Procedures, Policy Development Fund Procedures and Election Campaigns Fund Procedures provide guidance as to how the NSWEC meets the principles and objectives stated in the Public Funding Policy.

The Determination Person or Entity is not a Prohibited Donor Policy and Procedures describe the principles and objectives concerning prohibited donors, the power of the NSWEC to determine that a person is not a prohibited donor and the application process around making determinations.

The Penalty Notice and Caution Procedures provide a guide as to how the NSWEC issues penalty notices under the Election Funding, Expenditure and Disclosures Act 1981 and how the penalty notice regime works. The document also functions as the NSWEC's caution and internal review guidelines as required under the Fines Act 1996.
